About Illinois Phone Directory

Phone numbers for Illinois live across a dozen different places - the state employee directory, Chicago's own city directory, 102 county websites, the courts directory, school and university portals, every utility company, plus the area-code lookups maintained by NANPA and the FCC. Tracking down the right number usually means bouncing between websites. We built this site so you can land on the right directory, area-code reference, or hotline without hunting through five other sites first.

Why We Built This Site

Illinois publishes phone information across many separate offices. The State of Illinois Telephone Directory covers state employees and agencies. Chicago runs its own employee phone directory and 311 service. Each of the 102 counties posts its own numbers, and the Illinois courts keep a statewide clerk directory. School districts, the state universities, and the public libraries all maintain portals of their own. Public-safety lines split between 911, 988, 311, 211, and regional State Police dispatch centers. Add the utility companies and the FCC and NANPA references for the state's 17 area codes, and the picture gets crowded fast. We pull together the lookup tools, contact methods, and reference data for each of these in one place.
